Hoe ginseng sporters fitter maakt
Onderzoekers van Konkuk University in Zuid-Korea hebben ontdekt hoe suppletie met ginseng misschien het uithoudingsvermogen van hardlopers, wielrenners en andere duursporters kan vergroten. Ginseng verhoogt in de eerste twintig minuten van duurinspanningen de verbranding van vet en spaart de kostbare koolhydraten. De Koreanen deden experimenten met muizen.
RG = Red Ginseng; CON = placebo.
Na de inspanning vonden de Koreanen in de lever van de muizen minder glycogeen. De afname van de concentratie was echter minder groot in de muizen die ginseng hadden gekregen.
