0 8 - 0 6 - 2 0 0 5 Man living in Henderson charged with steroid possession
June 8, 2005
An international bodybuilding professional has been arrested at his southern Nevada home and charged with selling illegal steroids and human growth hormone. Henderson police say 32-year-old Canadian citizen Valerio Moscariello was arrested Friday after officers serving a warrant found more than $100,000 worth of the substances at his Henderson home. Last month, Henderson detectives received information from the United States Postal Inspector a person distributing steroids nationwide through the mail. A month-long investigation between Henderson Narcotics Officers, DEA Agents and the US Postal Inspector's Office resulted in obtaining a search warrant for a home in Henderson. On June third, police raided the home and seized $100,000 in packaged steroids, $17,000 in cash, a 2003 H2 Hummer SUV, and various other assets. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. Authorities say the investigation is continuing. 1 1 - 0 6 - 2 0 0 5 Bodybuilder arrested after steroids seized
Tip led to monthlong probe in Henderson

An elite professional bodybuilder was arrested last week after authorities seized what they described as an estimated $100,000-plus worth of illicit steroids and human growth hormone from his Henderson home.
Valerio Moscariello, 32, was nabbed last Friday after a monthlong probe that caught him mailing large packages of steroids and HGH across the country, said Henderson police spokesman Todd Rasmussen. "This isn't just a guy selling steroids," Rasmussen said of Moscariello, who is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. "He was a big player in nationwide distribution."
A tip received last month sparked the probe and investigators believe the steroids were coming in from China and Europe, Rasmussen said.
Moscariello is a chiseled, welterweight bodybuilder and former national runner-up in his native Canada. He drove by his home last Friday, noticed police conducting a raid inside, and tried to speed off in a 2003 H2 Hummer sport utility vehicle. An officer pulled him over, and brought him inside the home for questioning, according to a police report.
"Moscariello stated that for approximately the last two years he has been selling steroids locally here in Las Vegas and Henderson as well as various other locations in the United States," a police officer wrote in an arrest report filed in Henderson Justice Court.
"Moscariello stated that the proceeds from selling the steroids has been his sole source of income and that he had recently placed an order of $4,000 for 20 boxes of steroids."
Police say Moscariello also admitted to shipping roughly two packages a week and that the least expensive method of shipping was through the mail. Moscariello, a Canadian national, was booked into the Henderson Jail.

Canadian Press LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Canadian man was awaiting a federal deportation hearing Tuesday after being sentenced to time served in jail for illegally distributing anabolic steroids from his southern Nevada home, authorities said. Valerio Moscariello, 31, of Toronto, also was ordered to dismantle an Internet website called Juiceworld, through which he admitted selling the muscle-enhancing drugs, according to a statement by Daniel Bogden, U.S. attorney for Nevada. Moscariello was turned over to immigration authorities after federal District Court Judge Roger Hunt sentenced him Monday to five months already served and three years of probation, said Natalie Collins, spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney. Moscariello was arrested June 3 at his home in Henderson, where police and U.S. postal inspectors reported seizing steroids, human growth hormones, business records, packaging materials and more than $16,000 US in cash. Moscariello pleaded guilty Aug. 29 to possession with intent to distribute steroids, a controlled substance, without a prescription. Authorities began investigating in February after U.S. postal inspectors intercepted packages containing steroids mailed from Henderson to addresses in Washington, D.C., and Frisco, Texas, according to court documents.
