Dopingschandaal in Zuid Afrikaanse bokssport
Het officiële nieuws: Vusi Malinga is betrapt, waarschijnlijk op een uitdroger. Het uitgelekte nieuws: de boksbond
heeft weet van een anabolenschandaal, waar niet alleen Malinga maar ook zijn vader en zijn broers bij betrokken zijn.

Bokser Malinga had een 'kunstmatig verhoogde testosteronspiegel' (SA 27/09/2004)
Bokser, broer en vader geschorst wegens anabolengebruik. "Vusi Malinga was tested after his WBC international title
fight against Joel Bauya at Nasrec on April 30 this year and
was found to have elevated testosterone levels.
Further out-of-competition tests were conducted between May
and August without further notice and conclusively showed that
the higher levels were due to the use of anabolic steroids.
Brother Patrick Malinga tested positive for anabolic steroids
after his April 24 fight against Isaac Hlatswayo on April 24
at Sun City for the SA lightweight title.
A Boxing South Africa (BSA) disciplinary committee on Monday
also slapped a one-year
suspension on their trainer and father, Jabu Malinga, claiming
that he should share the guilt as he was in control of
preparing both boxers for their respective bouts."

are Merced County Sheriff's deputies.
Sheriff Mark Pazin confirmed for Action News that four of his deputies are
under investigation after he says they admitted to using steroids.
The sheriff says one deputy was confronted after a tip. Then, during an
employee meeting, the sheriff encouraged anyone else with past or present
drug use to come forward, "We're going to have incidents such as this and
people are going to have indiscretions and employees will make poor
decisions. That's not to say once we find this out we are not going to
take action. In fact, we did."
Sheriff Pazin says the deputies took the steroids one to four years ago.
The names of the deputies involved are being withheld and they're still
working until disciplinary action is taken."
