independent.ie
THREE men have been arrested at Dublin Airport suspected of smuggling 34,000 ampoules of the performance-enhancing male sex hormone testosterone in a seizure which will alarm sports administrators in this country.
Testosterone is a synthetic version of the primary male sex hormone, and is regarded as an anabolic steroid.
Yesterday's operation by officers of the Revenue's Customs Service resulted in the arrest of three Pakistani nationals. The steroids, with an approximate value of €400,000, were concealed in their baggage.
Imran Younus Durrani, 37, Mohammad Zahid Shaihif, 30, and Mohammad Altaf, 37, had arrived earlier on a flight from Karachi, Pakistan, via Abu Dhabi. The three were remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill Court on Tuesday.
