0 1 - 0 3 - 2 0 0 5 Killer is moved from jail
28 February 2005
SCHEMING cop killer David Bieber has been moved from a top security Cambridgeshire prison after becoming too popular with inmates, a Sunday newspaper claims. The killer of Pc Ian Broadhurst is believed to have offered £1 million to anyone who could help him escape from Whitemoor Prison, March, says the Sunday Mirror. Now the former US marine has been transferred to top security Woodhill Prison, near Milton Keynes - dubbed Britain's "Alcatraz" because it is so difficult to escape from - where Soham killer Ian Huntley was held. Bodybuilder Bieber had a growing fan club among prisoners at the Cambridgeshire prison, and staff felt he was a threat to the prison's stability, it is claimed. "He was always trying to manipulate the system and his influence in the jail was growing and making life difficult for officers," a source inside the jail told the newspaper. Bieber murdered Pc Broadhurst in Leeds on Boxing Day in 2003. |
