LA 'Times' details sex accounts vs. Schwarzenegger

In meticulous detail based on seven weeks of reporting, the Los Angeles Times on Thursday painted a devastating portrait of boorish and offensive treatment of women by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The newspaper's lengthy front-page story, based on the accounts of six women, describes how the actor groped and fondled them without their consent, often in public settings. The incidents took place as long ago as 1975 and as recently as three years ago.

Although four of the women provided their accounts on condition they not be identified, Schwarzenegger himself seemed to implicitly credit the thrust of the Times story. While he condemned the story as "trash politics," he apologized and acknowledged he had "behaved badly."

In the Times story:

- Three women described times in which Schwarzenegger grabbed their breasts.

- A fourth said he had reached beneath her skirt and squeezed her buttock as her horrified boss tried to get her out of the room.

- A fifth accuser said the actor had groped her in an elevator on three occasions and tried to remove her bathing suit.

The woman, a female crew member during the filming of Terminator 2, said she did not accept the actor's apology.

"He's like a serial harasser. No, I don't think the guy is ever going to stop," said the woman, who still works in the entertainment industry.

- A sixth woman said he had pulled her onto his lap on a movie set and asked if she had ever engaged in a particular sexual act.

One of the women who allowed her name to be used said Schwarzenegger reached under her T-shirt and groped her breast as she watched her then-husband work out at Gold's Gym in Venice Beach, Calif. The woman, E. Laine Stockton, said the incident happened in 1975.

On Thursday, she said the actor should apologize personally to each of the women.

"He didn't do it to us as a group," she said. "He did it to us in public places. As far as I'm concerned, I want a face-to-face apology, or at least to say my name publicly and to my ex-husband, (bodybuilder) Robby (Robinson). I will accept nothing less."

British television host Anna Richardson also accused the actor of touching her breast during a 2000 interview for his film The Sixth Day.
