Schwarzenegger gratifies Californian voters
AP LOS ANGELES -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger told a late-night rally that California voters' decisions on a variety of ballot propositions once again shows that "the ultimate power comes from the people." The former bodybuilder told a cheering crowd in Los Angeles he likes Election Day because when the voters flex their muscles, the state grows stronger. Voters approved a $3 billion stem cell measure the governor supported, despite its expense and opposition from conservatives. Schwarzenegger also supported a measure to protect local property, and sales tax revenues from raids by the state. The measure was approved. The governor was against two measures that would have expanded gambling and they were both defeated. |
