0 2 - 0 6 - 2 0 0 6 City man pleads guilty to importing narcotics

A city man who was busted after customs officers intercepted a
package from India Sarbjit Kahlon, 32, entered his plea in provincial court as his wife, carrying an infant in a baby carrier, looked on. He is slated to be sentenced on Dec. 11. The wife, Satwinder Kahlon, 27, was also charged in the Jan. 11, 2005, drug bust, however her charges are expected to be withdrawn at her husband’s sentencing hearing.
Court heard a package sent from the Punjab The parcel, without its illegal contents, was sent on to its Edmonton destination with the help of RCMP and Satwinder Kahlon was arrested upon delivery. Armed with a warrant, Mounties searched the Mill Woods home and confiscated about $7,500 in cash and an unsafely stored 9 mm handgun.
Also seized were 12,600 tablets of the anabolic steroid stanozolol, At the time, RCMP said the opium was worth as much as $60,000 on the street while the value of the steroids was pegged at several thousand dollars. |
