2 0 - 0 4 - 2 0 0 6 Former deputy pleads guilty to domestic abuse
WVLT Knoxville - A former Knox County Sheriff's Department employee was back in the courtroom to plead guilty to domestic assault charges as part of a plea agreement. Eric Brefini admitted to taking steroids and assaulting his wife, causing her to leave their home back in March. Brefini served about a week in jail for the incident. Assistant District Attorney Steve Hall says Brefini's wife is happy with the outcome and hopes her husband will get the help he needs. "We just feel like it was, justice was done and it's a very good decision, by him being in court and pleading guilty can get him turned around to where he doesn't lose his anger and he treats his fellow man right, then we've done a good job," says Assistant District Attorney Steve Hall. As part of the plea agreement, Brefini will be required to continue anger management and substance abuse counseling and he will no longer be able to own a gun. Brefini resigned from the Knox County Sheriff's Department after the incident. |
