3 1 - 0 3 - 2 0 0 6 Steroids seized in raid
The Daily Telegraph CUSTOMS officers have seized a large quantity of performance-enhancing drugs after a raid on a house in Melbourne's east.
The raid came after a package of anabolic steroids, sent from China Customs officers yesterday found more white powder, which was later confirmed as anabolic steroids, following a raid using a sniffer dog team on a Doncaster East property. The steroids weighed more than 500 grams. Customs officers have interviewed a 23-year-old man. Customs regional director for Victoria Jaclyne Fisher said officers would remain vigilant over the importation of performance-enhancing drugs. "While investigations into the alleged importation are continuing, there is no evidence to suggest that the steroids were connected with the Commonwealth Games," Ms Fisher said. Performance and image-enhancing drugs can only be imported with permission from the Therapeutic Goods Administration. The maximum penalty for importing such drugs illegally is a five-year jail term or a $110,000 fine. |
