Men charged with producing illegal steroids Calgary Herald September 28, 2004 LETHBRIDGE, Alberta -- Police in Lethbridge have laid charges against two southern Alberta residents for producing anabolic steroids. On June 29th, the Lethbridge Regional Police Service found the remains of a drug lab in a vacated business that had once been a cheque-cashing and loan office. Staff Sergeant Jim Carriere alleges the lab was producing the steroids testosterone and trenbolone -- both performance enhancing drugs. He says it appears the drugs were being produced for local consumption, adding that it's unclear how big the operation was. Carriere says it's likely the steroids were allegedly sold to bodybuilders and some athletes. Police have charged 35-year-old Tracey Monique Peters and 36-year-old Marc Antonine Bertiaume, both of Turin, a small community northeast of Lethbridge. They face two counts of production of a controlled substance and will appear in court November 25th.
