A court in Hradec Kralove, east
Bohemia, has ordered the Aminostar company to
compensate cross- country skier Petr Novak who tested
positive for the banned norandrosteron substance after
using nutrition supplements produced by the company,
the aktualne.cz server informed today.
Novak, a onetime member of the Czech republic's junior
national cross-country skiing team, tested positive
for norandrosteron three years ago and was suspended
from the sport for two years.
"The verdict says that our compensation claim is valid
because my client was damaged by the company. The
actual size of compensation has not been discussed by
the court yet," said Novak's lawyer Prokop Benes.
After testing positive, Novak had Aminostar's
nutritional supplements checked by an accredited
laboratory. The lab confirmed the presence of banned
substances in the products.
Aminostar representatives said that they have not
added banned steroids to their product.
"This is nonsense. I can say that no producer in the
Czech Republic would dare do this," the company's
owner Josef Bukvic told Nova Television.
Novak said he is going to demand financial
compensation from the company.
